JOB RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY:
Ensure the fleet of company vehicles and all assigned janitorial equipment receive proper preventive maintenance and repairs as needed to allow completion of contracted obligations. Schedules and completes periodic maintenance, minor repairs, and arranges for major repairs on assigned vehicles and equipment. Maintains equipment/parts inventory, transports items, and monitors gasoline/oil supplies. Ensures cleaning, inspection, and safe operations of equipment. Maintains shop area in safe and orderly condition and monitors proper storage and disposal of chemicals in accordance with OSHA and other applicable standards.

Must remain in current position for at least one year before applying for a promotional position.

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 or more years’ experience in a rehabilitation, non-profit facility, or comparable setting in the area(s) of vehicle and janitorial equipment maintenance is highly desired.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and general computer operation is required.
- Working knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Working knowledge of disability management and awareness.
- Knowledge of the Ability One federal law.
- Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be authorized for coverage under agency insurance if operating an agency vehicle, have a good driving record, a valid driver’s license, and/or the required level of personal auto insurance.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a background check, per company requirements.
- Ability to communicate with tact and maintain confidentiality.
- Adequate ability in communicating in spoken conversation – adequate volume of speech.
- Adequate ability in writing/reading/mathematics.
- Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with management and peers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Schedule and ensure completion of periodic oil changes, filter changes, lubrication, transmission flush, cooling system flush, and other required maintenance for assigned vehicles.
- Perform minor repairs and arrange for major repairs on assigned vehicles.
- Make or arrange for repairs and periodic maintenance/inspections for all assigned janitorial equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of spare or replacement janitorial equipment to be used following the breakdown of normally used equipment.
- Transport large equipment items between buildings to allow the required periodic cleaning to take place.
- Monitor the amount of gasoline on hand and arrange for re-supply as needed for vehicles and gas-powered equipment.
- Pump gas into assigned vehicles and monitor the program for proper documentation.
- Ensure cleaning, inspection, and safe operation of assigned vehicle.
- Ensure employees are performing weekly vehicle inspections correctly by providing training when needed and by checking weekly documentation.
- Attain Project /Operations Manager approval, and place orders for new equipment when used equipment becomes unserviceable.
- Provide advice and updates on the status of vehicles and equipment to the Project Manager.
- Maintain the mechanical shop area and off-site storage area in a safe and orderly condition.
- Make certain the company issued cell telephone is carried and is operational during duty hours for communication with the supervisor and the office staff.
- Accomplish all assigned duties in accordance with company and OSHA safety standards and directives.
- Monitor toxic fluids, burned-out fluorescent lights, and other materials collected, and ensure they are safely stored, properly labeled, and/or disposed of in accordance with existing directives.
