DURATION: 12–16-week training experience
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED or currently enrolled in high school, GED, college, training program, or vocational rehabilitation services. Field of study may include (but is not limited to):
Human Services
Rehabilitation or Social Services
Business or Administrative fields
Manufacturing
Computer Science or Information Technology
Education
Workforce Development
General Career Exploration
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience is not required as this is a learning opportunity.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be authorized for coverage under agency insurance if operating an agency vehicle, have a good driving record, a valid driver’s license, and/or the required level of personal auto insurance.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate respectfully.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a background check, per company requirements.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Willingness to work in a team environment and maintain positive professional relationships with staff, consumers, managers, and visitors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY: The Intern / Practicum / Job Training Participant role is designed to help individuals gain real-world work experience in one or more Phoenix departments. The experience may include:
Rehabilitation & Human Services exposure
Computer and technology skill-building
Administrative and office-based tasks
Data entry, documentation support, or digital skill development
Job shadowing with career specialists, job coaches, or program staff
Learning workplace professionalism, communication, and time management
Participants receive coaching, structured learning activities, and hands-on skills practice, helping them prepare for future employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide administrative support staff to support the programs of Huntsville Rehabilitation Foundation.
Depending on the assigned department, participants may:
Rehabilitation / Human Services
Shadow staff during consumer appointments or workplace support.
Learn about documentation, progress notes, and person-centered processes.
Assist with organizing resources, preparing materials, or supporting group activities.
Observe employment services, job coaching, or job development activities.
Computer / Technology
Assist with basic computer tasks, typing, research, or data entry.
Learn to use Microsoft Office, email systems, filing systems, or case management tools.
Support computer lab activities, equipment setup, or digital literacy tasks.
Administrative / Office Support
Greet visitors, answer phones, or direct inquiries.
Assist with scanning, copying, filing, or preparing packets.
Sort and distribute mail.
Maintain organized workspaces and front desk areas.
Program & Department Support
Help prepare materials for meetings, classes, or workshops.
Support staff with special projects, events, or community outreach activities.
Assist with data tracking, spreadsheets, or basic reporting under supervision.
General Workplace Skills
Practice time management, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Participate in training on workplace expectations, safety, and professionalism.
Tasks will be assigned based on the intern’s skills, interests, and instructional goals
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO THIS POSITION MAY INCLUDE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: Perform assigned tasks with support and supervision. Participate in training sessions, check-ins, and skill development meetings. Ask questions and request clarification when needed. Follow all Phoenix policies, including confidentiality and safety procedures. Complete time sheets accurately and maintain reliable attendance
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Adequate ability is required for conversation, telephone use, and emergency information systems.
Ability to be independently mobile on all surfaces and in all situations.
Ability to move safely around the work area.
Ability to retrieve items from high and low areas.
Ability to perceive size, discrimination, temperature, shapes, and/or textures.
Physical stamina to work at least 4 hours per day.

RATE OF PAY: $13.00 per hour
